Finally, BLOCKS Modular smartwatches are ready to ship the first wearable devices to people who backed them. An official preview of the finished smartwatch and modules has also been released. This smartwatch is real cool as it comes with various modules which unlike the regular smartwatches can easily be hot swapped. The BLOCKS Modular smartwatches come with a core and various modules planned like Extra Battery Module, Heart Rate Module, GPS Module, NFC Contactless Module, Adventure Module(Altitude, Pressure & Temperature, SIM Card Module, Fingerprint Module, LED Module, Programmable Button Module, Air Quality Module, Camera Module, Flash Memory Module, Stress Levels Module, Body Temperature Module and Expansion Module.The Core or the Watch Face can also work individually without the modules connected. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor supported by 512MB of RAM with 4 GB of internal storage. The screen is AMOLED touchscreen with 360×360 pixel resolution and measures 1.39 inches in size. It also supports Bluetooth 4.1 and wireless 802.11b/g/n connectivity. It has a 9-axis accelerometer, gyroscope, vibration motor and microphone. The core can be attached to the various modules BLOCK has planned as mentioned earlier. The watch is compatible with both iOS and Andriod. BLOCKS watches will be IP67 water resistant, which means one can wear them while swimming in the pool.Since BLOCK has an open platform, companies and developers can customise the modules as per their needs and requirements. The BLOCKS smartwatches will be offered in three colours Black, White and Red made from Polycarbonate.
