Amazon Kindle Launched In India At Rs 5,999
Amazon has launched a new design of Kindle in India, which is lighter and thinner than its previous model. The new Kindle will cost Rs 5,999 and is offered in two colour variants, black and white. Cloud Storage for all Amazon content is offered free with the new Kindle.
It promises to enhance the reader’s experience. The experience of reading is very calm as it does not strain the eyes. The touchscreen display gives the reader an experience as he would be reading a real paper. Navigation with one hand is easier compared with other tablets, as it is thin and light(measures 160 mm x 115 mm x 9.1 mm and weighs around 161 grams). The screen has no blue light to disturb your sleep. Battery life is also enhanced in the new Kindle, claims the company. It comes with features like enhanced search, Goodreads integration, Vocabulary Builder, Word Wise and can connect easily to your home WiFi network or WiFi hotspots on the road.

As far as technical specifications are concerned, the new Kindle features a 6″ display made with E Ink Pearl technology and has a pixel density of 167 ppi, optimised font technology, and 16-level grey scale. It has 4GB storage capacity. The company claims the battery to be fully charged in 4 hrs when connected to a computer via a USB cable. This single charge can last up to 4 weeks, assuming that the user is reading half an hour per day without WiFi. The Ebook reader supports both public and private Wifi WiFi networks or hotspots that use the 802.11b, 802.11g, or 802.11n standard with support for WEP, WPA and WPA2 security using password authentication or WiFi Protected Setup (WPS). The new Kindle supports various formats like Kindle Format 8 (AZW3), Kindle (AZW), TXT, PDF, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; HTML, DOC, DOCX, JPEG, GIF, PNG, and BMP through conversion.
