Android Nougat-Everything You Need To Know
Get ready to update your Nexus phones with the latest version of Android. Google is presenting Android 7.0 Nougat its latest version of Android. Android Nougat will streamline the existing features along with the addition of some essential features to an operating system we are familiar with.
Google is shifting their design language since the launch of Android 5.0 on the phones with Google Apps and Services. In its efforts to enhance the design based concept Google introduced Marshmallow which has a flat but bold design that tied everything together
The Android Nougat has not undergone much of cosmetic changes, though Google has done under the hood changes which brings some new features to life.
Faster and easier updates using Android Nougat
The new version of Android automatically updates your phone or tablets without the user intervention. The users can continue doing the things normally while the updates take place in the background. The users will only need to restart their phone to finish things up.
Here’s Google’s brief explanation about the situation:
“Android Nougat also adds some important new features to help keep users safer and more secure. Inspired by how Chromebooks apply updates, we’re introducing seamless updates, so that new Android devices built on Nougat can install system updates in the background. This means that the next time a user powers up their device, new devices can automatically and seamlessly switch into the new updated system image.
Multi-window for multitasking
At times it is handy to be able to view two screens at one time especially while doing two things at once. The new OS version comes with this more than one window on your phone window screen.
Attempts have been made by Samsung and to a certain extent by LG in bringing a similar feature with their phones. Google has always built things in a way that any app runs flawlessly without the developer or user having to do anything special.
One can easily split the screen 50/50 by default and adjust the apps on the bottom on a phone or left and right on a tablet. Devices with large screens can use the freeform mode which enables to change the window size as well.
Android Nougat allows users to instantly reply to the notification directly from the tray. They need not open the app or install anything extra. All apps which supporting the new feature will work just fine.
If you feel the need to open the notification to view and reply you can do that as well.
Phone uses less battery and performs faster
Google has introduced the “Project Doze” feature with Marshmallow but it has got a major update in Nougat. The “Project Doze” is a code name for ways to have your phone uses less battery while it is not in your hands with the screen on.
In the earlier Android version it was working fine while the phone was not plugged in and sitting still, but now it works even while it’s in your pocket or purse. The tech behind it remains the same, once the phone’s screen is off for a while, it stops doing things in the background all the time. In such times it uses what Google calls “windows” to check for new messages or do things like update your location.
Google also has “Project Svelte” in place to manage memory and apps to run in the background. It helps in stopping all unnecessary stuff happening when you weren’t expecting it to happen. By controlling what really needs to run and what need not to run, your phone will perform better and use less battery.
Less mobile data Usage
Data charges from your phone companies suck. The Android nougat comes with a Data Saver feature where you can block background random data usage and restrict things like checking for new tweets or emails inorder to use less data on your phone.
The Data Saver can be configured to ignore certain apps and you will be notified with an icon that lets you knows whats up.
More human emoji
The new Android 7.0 comes with over 1,500 emoji which have been revamped to look more human like, along with the addition of 72 new glyphs. Previously the emoji resembled more cartoonish, this has encouraged manufacturers like Samsung and LG to write their own.
Security is always a priority and keeping your data private and personal is important. The Android 7.0 comes with features which sure make it even more secure.
The android nougat come with a feature where on turning on the phone some apps are able to partially work before you sign in with your PIN or password. Here the actual phone app or your text messages, your alarm and any other accessibility features all can run. Whereas other apps and their data remains unavailable and/or encrypted. As soon as you sign in everything works normally.
This feature is helps in keeping your data safe when you lose your phone and makes working with the remote features of Android Device Manager smoother.
With Android Nougat come with a Scoped folder access Feature. Your Apps can request access to specific folders that you can allow or deny access to (just like app runtime permissions). This is a reduced-scope version of the Storage permission for Apps that only need access to certain folders. It can also allow Apps to request direct access to removable media (on devices with that hardware).
Android For Work
We have always used our phones at home as well as work. The newest feature Android for Work is changing the way we use our phones. It separates business apps from personal apps so you can use your favorite Android device for both work and play.

It will differentiate thee personal stuff from the work stuff and ensures no IT person ever see or erase your photos, emails, or other personal data.
Language and locale
Earlier you could change the main language on your Android device, but the latest version comes with a new feature, you will now be able to easily select and use multiple languages on a single device.
This feature enable all your applications to translate its content in whichever primary language set on your device. At times if the application does not support the primary language on your device, Multi-Locale will push the app to switch to the next language on the list.
Android TV Picture-in-Picture and recording
The latest Android version bring the basic DVR functionality to your phones. Apart from the controls like Play or Rewind, users can also save multiple session, which means that you can schedule recordings or record as you watch.
