Facebook Messenger Will Stop Working On Some Smartphones
In the coming days, Facebook users might find that Facebook app and Messenger stopped working on their smartphones which run the older version of these apps.
Reports from media on Wednesday suggest Facebook will halt support for devices running older versions of the app which include v55 of the Facebook app and v10 of the Messenger on Android. Along with this, it will also stop support for Facebook on Windows Phone.
This has been seen as a move towards the company’s continuous efforts to give the users a satisfying experience using the software. Facebook stated users may suddenly be unable to run facebook and messenger in case they are using pared down version of the platform.
Facebook mention in its blog post – “One of the ways we continue to improve is by consistently introducing rich features, like voice and video calling, games, and bots for Messenger. Using older versions of apps means that experiences won’t work well or sometimes not at all,”
Henceforth Facebook for iPad v26, Messenger v8 for iOS, Facebook for iOS released in 2011, Facebook for Windows Phone, Messenger for Windows Phone 8 and 8.1, and Facebook for Windows 8 and the 8.1 desktop will not be supported.
