Reliance Jio 4G VoLTE Smartphones to be Launched Soon for Rs.999


Digital India is becoming more and more a reality with players like Reliance Jio coming up with free introductory offers on its WiFi and FTTH internet connection. In yet another move reports suggest Reliance Jio will soon launch low-priced smartphones with 4G VoLTE support. The Reliance Jio 4G VoLTE Smartphones will be priced between Rs.999 and Rs.1500.

Reliance Jio is already selling smartphones under the LYF brand name priced around 3,499 and bundled with Jio sim. With the introduction of the low-cost smartphones with 4G VoLTE support, the market is all set to see a huge demand for such phones.

Figures suggest 65% of India’s subscribers base still use feature phones. With price of smartphones starting around Rs3000 has been hindering the adoption rate for smartphones. The low-cost smartphones will enable the masses to own a smartphone and join the Digital platform.

The 4G VoLTE phones will sport a front-facing and a rear camera and will come bundled with free voice calls and apps such as   Jio Chat, Live TV and video-on-demand. Jio Money Wallet will enhance the company’s digital wallet service.

Media reports suggest Reliance Jio is working with domestic manufacturers like Lava to manufacture these phones. The phones will be partly subsidized to keep the price in the desired range from 1000 to 1500. The smartphone will carry both Jio and Lava branding. Sales of the phones will be carried out through respective retail channels so that they can reach a wider market.

Further reports suggest Reliance Jio plans to source chipsets with capabilities to make VoLTE calls in these feature phones, which Jio plans to source from Chinese company Spreadtrum. Reliance Jio is also expectedly in talks with chipset manufacturers Qualcomm and Mediatek.
